SASSA Office Hours and Opening Days

Confirm your local SASSA office’s opening time, closing time and service days before travelling. We could not verify one current national timetable that applies to every branch. Call 0800 60 10 11 during weekday working hours and ask about the office you plan to visit.

SASSA’s March 2026 notice confirms that its toll-free enquiry line operates during working hours, Monday to Friday. It does not establish exact opening and closing times for every local office.

SASSA Office Hours: What to Confirm

A call-centre schedule is not necessarily a branch schedule. Before leaving home, ask the office or SASSA’s enquiry line:

  • What time does this branch open and close on my intended visit date?
  • Is my service available that day, and do I need an appointment?
  • Is there a queue cut-off before closing time?
  • Is the office operating at its usual address?
  • Which documents should I bring for my particular enquiry?

Allow time for travel and queues. An advertised closing time does not guarantee that a late arrival will be assisted that day.

Weekend Visits and Public Holidays

Do not assume your branch is open on Saturday, Sunday or a public holiday. Confirm any special service session directly with SASSA, including the location, date and services offered.

Check the government’s public holiday calendar before choosing a visit date. Easter dates change each year. When a public holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is also a public holiday. Additional public holidays may be declared separately, so also check recent official notices.

How to Contact SASSA Before Visiting

The government lists 0800 60 10 11 and GrantEnquiries@sassa.gov.za for grant enquiries. These contact details appear in its social grant application guidance. Ask for the current contact details of your nearest branch if your question needs a local answer.

See our SASSA contact information guide for related support options. A branch’s opening hours are different from a grant’s payment dates.

Prepare for Your Office Visit

  1. Confirm the branch address, hours and any appointment requirements.
  2. Explain whether your visit concerns an application, review, suspended grant or another issue.
  3. Ask which original documents and copies are required. Bring your ID and any notice or reference relevant to the enquiry.
  4. Follow the branch’s queue and service instructions on arrival.
  5. Keep any receipt, reference number and written instructions you receive.

If you only need an SRD application result, you can use the SASSA status check tool or the official SRD status page. Online access can save a trip, although the service may occasionally be unavailable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does every SASSA office open at the same time?

We have not verified a single current timetable for every branch. Confirm the opening time and service arrangements for your chosen office before travelling.

Is SASSA open on Saturdays?

Do not travel on the assumption that a branch opens on Saturdays. Ask SASSA whether a specific weekend session has been announced for that office.

Can I use the call-centre hours as my branch’s hours?

No. The official weekday enquiry-line guidance does not confirm an individual branch’s opening or closing time. Ask about that branch directly.
