How to Check SASSA Status Using the USSD Code?
We have not verified a current USSD menu for checking SRD application status. Use the official online status page instead of relying on the menu numbers previously listed here.
Note: I have written about how to check SASSA balance without Airtime, which you can also read on my blog.
What is USSD Code?
USSD stands for Unstructured Supplementary Service Data. It is a communication protocol used by mobile network operators. Users can access services using USSD codes on their phones without an internet connection.
Companies use USSD codes to provide quick, text-based services. These codes allow users to perform tasks like checking balances, subscribing to services, or accessing information directly on their phones.
Why Do Companies Use USSD Codes?
Companies use USSD codes because they work on all mobile phones. Users do not need smartphones, data, or Wi-Fi. These codes are fast, simple, and accessible. They make it easy for users to access services, especially in areas with limited internet.
Use the official online status page
Open the official SASSA SRD status page and use the ID number and cellphone number linked to your application. Check the result for the month you need. Application status and bank-account balance are different checks.
How to Check SASSA Balance Status Using USSD Code?
If you want to check your grant balance, then you need to check out the USSD code of your bank. Only those who are receiving the SRD payment via bank transfer can check the SASSA balance with the USSD code.
Here is how to do it:
- Find the USSD code for your bank. For example:
- TymeBank: *120*543#
- Capitec Bank: *120*3279#
- Nedbank: *120*001#
- Open your phone’s dialer.
- Dial the USSD code of your bank.
- Select the “Balance Inquiry” option from the menu.
- Wait for a message from your bank with your current balance.
This method works for those who receive their SASSA payments directly into their bank accounts. It is the most convenient way for grant recipients without internet access. You do not need data, airtime, or a smartphone.
Why Use USSD for SASSA Balance Check?
- No internet needed.
- Works on any mobile phone.
- Instant balance check.
- Secure and direct.
- If you receive your SASSA payment through a bank, use this method for quick balance updates.
F.A.Q
Can I check my SASSA status using a friend’s phone?
Yes, but you must enter your own ID number and the phone number linked to your SASSA application.
What should I do if I receive an error when using the SASSA USSD code?
Do not rely on the unverified USSD instructions previously listed here. Use the official online status page or contact SASSA through its official channels.
Is it safe to enter my ID number using the USSD code for SASSA?
We have not verified a current SRD status-check USSD menu. Confirm a channel with SASSA before entering personal details; network technology alone does not establish who operates a service.
Can I check my SASSA status using multiple USSD codes?
We have not verified those codes for current SRD application-status checks. Use the official online status page rather than trying unverified codes.
Can I use the SASSA USSD code on a SIM card not registered in my name?
You do not need that SIM in your hand. Your status is tied to your ID number and the phone number on your application, so you can check from any phone or any computer.
